Effect of mackerel (Rastrelliger) arsik soup on the LDL levels of hypercholesterolemic rats

Fish arsik soup is a popular traditional food in North Sumatera especially Batak ethnic. This research aimed to evaluate the effects of different dose mackerel fish on body weight and LDL blood level rats that were given cholesterol rich feed namely quail egg yolk. Research was performed by using Randomized Group Design. Forty male grouped into 5 groups. The first group (K1) negative control which distilled water basal diet. second, third, fourth groups with 1 ml/200 g (bw)/day (K2), 2 bw/day (K3), 3 (K4), last positive gemfibrozil (K5). result shows fed yolk had state gain hypercholesterolemic. Administration hypercholesterolemic various significantly (p<0.05) lower rat compared administration resulted highest reduction levels rat's blood.
